The Case: Anna's Scaffolding, Inc. v. General Contractor
The Jury: You!! The attendees for this educational program serve as the jury.
Are you waiving your workers compensation protections?
Your office is being painted and the contractor put up scaffolding to do the job... imagine a visitor or employee on your premises who is injured due to the scaffolding failing. Who would pay the medical damages? Your workers compensation plan, the painting contractor, the scaffolding manufacturer? Everyone? Who is responsible?
Don't let the fine print in a contract expose you to costly litigation!
Each year the Association hosts a Mock Trial based on an important issue facing our industry. This year will focus on how contract language can play out in the courtroom: how a careless contract clause can hold you liable for medical bills that would otherwise have been covered by workers compensation.
Whether you are a builder, sub-contractor or supplier, contracts affect your business on a day-to-day basis.
You will be entertained and leave with knowledge on the following topics:
- Contract Clauses
- Indemnification Clauses
- Workers Comp Basics
- Sub-Contractor Liability
Builders will receive 2 DCQ credits.
